There are now no Government restrictions on the opening and use of snooker clubs. However, Covid-19 is still widespread in the community and can be dangerous despite high levels of vaccination. The Club have undertaken a risk assessment and dramatically improved the fresh air ventilation in the snooker room. Therefore the use of the snooker room is now largely without restrictions related to Covid-19.
The conditions and recommendations that now apply can be found here. You can see an indication of when the room is in use to the right.
Members do not need to book, however in order to appear on the calendar and avoid the possibility that others will try to use the room at the same time as you please email [email protected] with your plans or, if you use calendar invitations, invite [email protected]
The snooker room is usually unlocked between 9am and 5pm every day. If you wish to play outside these hours please contact Ian on (07434) 731129 to arrange for access.
Snooker Room Usage
- No one must enter the club if they are symptomatic, test positive for Covid-19 or have been asked to self-isolate.
- Only Members of the Snooker Club may use the Snooker table – guests are not allowed to play. For the 2021-22 year both Snooker Club membership dues (£5) and Social Club dues (£25) must have been paid in order to be a Snooker Club member, and therefore eligible to play. Review of this will be an agenda item at the 2022 AGM.
- The Club recommend that usually 6 or fewer people will be in the room. The forced fresh air ventilation in the room will meet the SAGE recommendation for ventilation of keeping CO2 levels in the room below 1500 ppm indefinitely for parties of 6 or fewer.
For larger parties there is still a good level of ventilation, and it should be noted that the SAGE recommendation is just that – a recommendation that is not (to date) based on studies.
The choice of party size is left up to members - Members do not need to book the room but must sign in using the book in the snooker room. As noted above, guests are not allowed.
- The Club recommends that you use your own equipment brought from home where you can (cues, chalk).
- The Club recommends that
- You sanitise your hands when you enter the snooker room. Sanitiser is provided.
- You avoid touching surfaces as much as possible. It is inevitable that you will touch the table edge to play shots, but do not lean on it when not playing (for example).
- During play the Club recommend that you
- Avoid sharing touch points such as triangles and the scoreboard.
- As much as possible do not share equipment. Allocate a standard rest to each player.
- Keep social distancing measures in place.
- Players should avoid each other eg by moving away from the player who is moving to take a shot (rather than towards them).
- Supplies are provided so that you can clean up at the end of the session.
The wipes provided can be used to wipe down all equipment (cues, rests, scoreboard, balls, triangle etc)
The wipes provided can wipe down the edges of the table, light switches, payment machine, door handles – including toilet and hallway door handles – and any other surfaces your party may have touched.
- During play the Club recommend that you
